It has long been my intention to share the results of many years research into the Stumme family and its origins. Initially it was an interest in my own family’s lineage, but like many projects it just grew and grew. I’ve amassed a good deal of information on several lines of Stummes, but the most complete is that of my own which centers on the Iowa group.
In my research it appears there are five well defined groups in the United States. In addition to the Iowa group there are the Illinois, Kansas/Nebraska, New York and Pennsylvania groupings. The Iowa and Illinois groups are related since they are connected through two brothers who emigrated from Germany together. All of the groups may be interconnected in Germany by our ancestors many years ago.
The purpose of this site is to allow others in the Stumme families to see where they fit in and possibly provide further insight through their own research or personal knowledge. Therefore, the site contains a blog in which readers can respond with their comments, corrections and encouragement. Pictures of our ancestors are always welcome.
Detailed information on individuals will be confined to those who have already died. Other descendants will be listed by name only. Sources will not be listed but are available by contacting me.
Hope you enjoy reading about your ancestors.
